On May 13, Forbes released the 2020 list of the top 2000 global companies. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China ranked first for the eighth consecutive year; China Construction Bank ranked second; JPMorgan Chase ranked second last year. The top ten companies also include: Berkshire Hathaway (4th), China Agriculture Bank (5th), Saudi Aramco (5th), Ping An of China (7th), Bank of America (8th), Apple (9th), Bank of China (10th).

This year, a company’s market value needs to reach at least US$5.27 billion to be considered for inclusion on the list. The figure was down from $6.25 billion last year.

The total revenue of the companies on the list in 2020 was US$42.3 trillion, the total profit was US$3.3 trillion, the total assets were US$201.4 trillion, and the total market capitalization is US$54.3 trillion. Corporate sales and asset figures were higher than last year, but profits and market capitalization were lower.

Looking around the world, the United States has the largest number of companies with 588 on the list; China has a total of 367 companies on the list, with Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan respectively. There are 266, 58 and 43 companies; Japan, the United Kingdom and Canada have 217, 77 and 61 companies on the list respectively.

A total of 12 Chinese petroleum and chemical companies are on the list, namely: PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC, Hengli, Formosa Petrochemical, Wanhua Chemical, Taiwan Chemical, Nanya Plastics, Formosa Plastics , Rongsheng Petrochemical, Hengyi Petrochemical, Tianmao Group.

A total of 58 chemical companies in the world are included in the top 2000. Among them, BASF leads the way, ranking 107, down 8 spots from last year; Linde has risen sharply from 219 last year to 178; Saudi Basic Industries ranks 212, down from 122 last year, down 99 spots.

It is reported that this year’s Forbes Global 2000 list is the 18th issue. The list comprehensively considers the company’s market value, sales, profits and assets, and selects the world’s largest listed companies. The price calculation date is April 30.
