On November 2, the first domestic waste gas to ethylene glycol project – Hami Guanghui Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., was built by China Wuhuan Engineering Co., Ltd. EPC general contractor and China Chemical Engineering No. 11 Construction Co., Ltd. The last large piece of equipment of the 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol comprehensive utilization project with an annual output of 400,000 tons of waste gas invested 3.56 billion yuan, the unconverted gas scrubber, was hoisted into place at one time, marking the end of the hoisting of large equipment for the entire project and laying the foundation for the comprehensive development of the later process pipelines. Installation provides a solid foundation.
Unconverted gas scrubber (position number: C04408), the tower is 63.5 meters high and weighs 355 tons. In order to ensure smooth hoisting, before the hoisting, the project department fully discussed the key points and difficulties of each link, formulated a detailed construction plan, and finally decided to adopt a hoisting plan of 800-ton crawler crane main crane and 280-ton crawler crane tail delivery. After full preparation in the early stage, the participating employees of the project department coordinated with each other, overcame difficulties, worked overtime and completed the construction tasks of equipment ladder platforms, attached tower pipes, anti-corrosion insulation and other construction tasks as scheduled, and successfully hoisted them in one go.
On September 9, 2019, Guanghui Energy’s coal gas comprehensive utilization project with an annual output of 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol was fully launched. The 10 million tons/year coal classification and upgrading comprehensive utilization project invested and constructed by Xinjiang Guanghui Coal Clean Refining Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hui Energy, uses by-product waste gas as raw material, using a series of technologies such as conversion, transformation, adsorption, and separation. Produces high-end chemical ethylene glycol.
This project uses the “WHB synthesis gas to produce polyester grade ethylene glycol” jointly developed by China Wuhuan Huashuo Technology Co., Ltd. and Hebi BMW (Group) Co., Ltd. The third generation technology, through a series of processes such as conversion, transformation, low-temperature methanol washing, PSA adsorption and separation, extracts the high-value synthesis gas components H2 and CO from raw coal gas, and produces high-end products through carbonylation, hydrogenation, and refining technologies. Chemical products – polyester grade ethylene glycol.
Hami Guanghui Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd.’s waste gas comprehensive utilization project with an annual output of 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol is located in Naomao Lake Industrial Park, Yiwu County, Hami City, Xinjiang, with a total investment of 3.56 billion Yuan. The project uses the third-generation technology of “WHB synthesis gas to polyester-grade ethylene glycol” jointly developed by China Wuhuan Huashuo Technology Co., Ltd. and Hebi BMW (Group) Co., Ltd., through conversion, transformation, low-temperature methanol washing, Through a series of processes such as PSA adsorption and separation, the high-value syngas components H2 and CO in raw coal gas are extracted, and high-end chemical products – polyester grade ethylene glycol are produced through carbonylation, hydrogenation, and refining technologies. Data shows that this PSA-CO device is also the largest pressure swing adsorption CO purification device in the world so far.
The Guanghui ethylene glycol project was built in two phases, the first phase is 200,000 tons, with a total investment of 1.87 billion yuan, and the second phase is 200,000 tons, with a total investment of 1.686 billion yuan.
Compared with coal-to-ethylene glycol projects, using raw coal gas to produce ethylene glycol can save more than 30% of project construction investment, significantly reduce the production cost of ethylene glycol products, and improve the overall profitability of the project. Not only It is in line with the new green development concept and plays a very positive role in promoting energy conservation and emission reduction and promoting ecological and environmental protection.
