Yulin Chemical 1.8 million tons of ethylene glycol project
Yulin Chemical is in Yushen Industrial Zone Qingshui Industrial Park implements the construction of a demonstration project for the separation and utilization of coal to produce new chemical materials. As the largest coal chemical project currently under construction in the world, this project covers a total area of approximately 13 square kilometers, has a total planned investment of 126.2 billion yuan, and can convert more than 24 million tons of coal per year.
The project is divided into two phases and four phases of construction, including a total of 27 process devices and supporting public works, mainly including 15 million tons of medium and low temperature pyrolysis of coal, 5.6 million tons of methanol, and 1.8 million tons of ethylene dioxide. Alcohol, 2 million tons of MTO and downstream products using these as intermediate raw materials.
The first phase of the project invests approximately 70 billion yuan to build 1.8 million tons/year of ethylene glycol, 5.6 million tons/year of methanol, and 2 million tons/year of olefins. It will also produce a large number of olefin downstream fine chemical products.
The 1.8 million tons/year ethylene glycol project is the first phase of the project. It is also the largest coal-to-ethylene glycol project currently under construction in the world, with an estimated investment of 26.5 billion yuan. The project adopts Kelin’s patented dry pulverized coal gasification technology and Japan’s patented technology for producing ethylene glycol from high-chemical synthesis gas. Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. and Japan High Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. jointly invested in the establishment of Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Yugao Chemical Co., Ltd. to build and operate oxalate ester production and oxalate ester hydrogenation to ethylene glycol units.
One of the overall goals set by the project construction work is that on June 30, 2021, the project will have a 1.8 million tons/year ethylene glycol project in the first phase and a 1.2 million tons/year powder project in the second phase. The coal pyrolysis and 500,000 tons/year coal tar deep processing industrial demonstration units have both reached mechanical completion.
