A few days ago, the Ministry of Commerce confirmed that 7 domestic trade industry standards have been reviewed and officially released by the Ministry of Commerce. The “Technical Requirements for the Acquisition of Fresh Silkworm Cocoons” (Standard No. SB/T11225-2021) is among them and will be released in 2021. Implemented on May 1st.
The standard is led by researcher Li Long of the Sericulture Industry Product Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center (Zhenjiang) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, in conjunction with the Sericulture Research Institute of the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Sichuan Silk Science Research Institute, Southwest University, etc. The unit was formulated and took 5 years to complete. During the formulation process of the standard, the opinions of experts from relevant universities, scientific research institutes, sericulture management departments, quality inspection departments, sericulture production units, and cocoon users were widely absorbed. The text was revised after several times of soliciting opinions and expert argumentation, and was published in 2019. On November 11, 2018, the “Technical Requirements for Acquisition of Fresh Silkworm Cocoons” standard (draft for approval) was formed and submitted.
The quality of silkworm fresh cocoon acquisition technology is directly related to cocoon yield and cocoon silk quality, and is related to the interests of farmers and cocoon and silk enterprises. There has always been no unified standard for the technical requirements for the acquisition of silkworm cocoons in my country, and there are no advanced international and foreign standards for the acquisition of fresh cocoons from silkworms. The entire industry has increasingly called for the development of unified, high-quality technical standards for the acquisition of fresh cocoons that regulate the market. The formulation of the “Technical Requirements for the Acquisition of Fresh Silkworm Cocoons” will provide a basis for strengthening supervision during and after the event and standardizing market competition. </p
