In 2020/21, a total of 5.5678 million tons of Xinjiang cotton were inspected by public inspections, an increase of 686,400 tons compared with the same period last year, a year-on-year increase of 14.06%. The increases in cumulative processing volume and public inspection volume tended to be consistent.
It is worth noting that since March, the daily processing volume of Xinjiang cotton has remained at 0.35-0.5 million tons, while Xinjiang cotton processing has basically ended in the same period of 2019/20 (the growth is almost negligible). In early March The cumulative public inspection volume has increased to zero for several consecutive days. Therefore, the industry judges that there is still some room for increase in Xinjiang cotton processing volume and public inspection volume in 2020/21.
Why has the processing period in Xinjiang been extended this year? Feedback from ginneries in the three major cotton areas in southern Xinjiang can be summarized into the following four points:
First, in 2020, Xinjiang epidemic prevention and control, personnel and vehicle movement control, and epidemic area disinfection work will affect seed cotton harvesting. It will have an impact on the collection, sales, processing and warehousing of ginneries;
Secondly, measures such as the renovation of high-voltage lines in Kashgar and some surrounding areas and power cuts in ginneries will have an impact on the purchase and processing of seed cotton for about half a month. ;
Third, considering the epidemic factors, cotton processing factory acquisition, processing, administrative, financial personnel and other personnel have returned home early during the Spring Festival (3-5 days earlier than in previous years), coupled with post-holiday epidemic prevention and control It requires isolation and observation, and the actual impact on the processing of the ginnery is more than 10 days;
Fourth, the increase in output in 2020/21 and the reluctance of farmers to sell seed cotton will extend the purchase period and processing period of the ginner to varying degrees. , and the installation and debugging of some new cotton picking and processing equipment in Xinjiang also takes time, extending the processing period. </p
