According to customs statistics, my country’s cotton yarn imports in June 2021 were 160,000 tons, a decrease of 10,000 tons or 5.89% from the previous month; an increase of 6.67% from the same period last year. From January to June 2021, my country imported a total of 1.13 million tons of cotton yarn, a year-on-year increase of 31.4%.

Some weaving companies and cotton yarn traders in coastal areas said that due to the US government’s extensive import ban on Xinjiang cotton products, C21S-C40S Vietnamese and Indian-Pakistani yarns are more cost-effective and 2021 In the first half of the year, due to the impact of the substantial appreciation of the RMB and other factors, it is expected that cotton yarn imports will maintain rapid growth year-on-year.

According to the survey, although the supply of domestic C60S and above cotton yarns was somewhat tight in June/July and the yarn mills received/arranged orders relatively smoothly, Qingdao/Ningbo/ Inquiries and shipments of high-count carded/combed yarns produced in India and Vietnam in ports such as Shanghai have shown little improvement or are even deserted. According to industry analysis, the following three reasons have become “stumbling blocks” to the sales of high-count imported cotton yarns:

First, the raw materials for 60S and above cotton yarns in India and Vietnam mainly use American Pima cotton or Egyptian Giza cotton. Coupled with many reasons such as process level and equipment conditions, the loss is slightly larger, so the port The quotation of high-count yarn is “upside-down” with that of domestic yarn, and there is no price advantage;

Second, whether cotton yarn traders or yarn mills and ports in India, Vietnam and other countries, high-count yarns of 60S and above are bonded , the quantity cleared for sale is very low, and there is not much room for buyers to choose; and the cargo is generally somewhat different from the spot goods at the port due to different cotton mix, different production dates, and different batches, causing concerns among cloth factories and middlemen;

Thirdly, the quality indicators, consistency and stability of high-count carded/combed yarns from Vietnam and India are still somewhat different from those of domestic brand yarns, especially the cotton foreign fiber content, short The down content is relatively high, there are many neps, and the hairiness is heavy, which is not conducive to spinning high-end, high-count and high-density gray fabrics/fabrics/garments.

Judging from traders’ reports, in recent days, the domestic and foreign quotations of cotton yarn from India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Uzbekistan and other origins have continued to stabilize, and have not been affected by the wide oscillation of ICE. The sentiments of foreign yarn mills and cotton yarn traders are stable, and the reluctance to sell has increased.

It is understood that due to the obvious deterioration of the epidemic situation in Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Myanmar (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and other cities in Vietnam have implemented blockades), the epidemic alarm has been sounded again, and prevention Due to the comprehensive upgrade of control, the production and sales of some yarn mills, garment companies, etc. have been affected. Some cotton yarn sales contracts are facing production delays, and shipping and delivery are forced to be delayed by 7-15 days. Domestic weaving factories and traders need to contact us when placing orders. Southeast Asian yarn mills have repeatedly contacted and confirmed to avoid affecting order scheduling and production; the pressure on bonded + non-bonded cotton yarn inventory at ports is expected to continue to ease from July to September. </p
