Seven Chinese chemical companies have entered the world’s top 50, one more than the previous year. It is worth noting that the rankings of Chinese companies are basically at the same level or rising, reflecting the booming development trend of China’s chemical industry. Except for Sinopec and Formosa Plastics, PetroChina ranked 13th, the same as last year; Hengli Petrochemical ranked 15th, a significant increase of 11 places; Syngenta, a subsidiary of Sinochem, ranked 26th; Wanhua Chemical ranked 29th . Rongsheng Petrochemical entered the top 50 for the first time this year, ranking 42nd.
The top three positions are stable, BASF is still the world’s largest chemical manufacturer; Sinopec ranks first for the second consecutive year The second runner-up is still Dow Chemical.
As for Chinese companies, there are 7 companies on the list, one more than the previous year. PetroChina maintained its ranking at 13th, Hengli Petrochemical’s ranking rose sharply to 15th, Wanhua Chemical’s ranking rose to 29th from 34th in 2019, and Rongsheng Petrochemical, which was newly added to the list, ranked 42nd.
It is understood that the list of the top 50 global chemical companies in 2021 is ranked based on the company’s chemical sales in 2020, with a revenue threshold of US$6.4 billion. BASF is the only company with sales exceeding US$50 billion; one company has lost sales between US$40 billion and US$50 billion, leaving only Sinopec; there are two companies with sales between US$30 billion and US$40 billion, namely Dow and Ineos; between US$20 billion and US$20 billion. There are 10 companies with a value of US$30 billion; there are 17 companies with a value of US$10 billion-20 billion.
