How miserable the printing market is this year can be seen from the sales of business licenses by various printing factories. No orders are available for almost all printing factories in the first half of the year. Even some large factories cannot maintain more than 50% operating capacity, and those small factories are having an even more difficult time. It is not surprising that they have to sell their factories to make a living.
According to a trader, their company’s water printing orders were relatively large in previous years, but this year they have dropped significantly. But I didn’t expect that their order was once considered a big order in the water printing factory. A chiffon water print they were making more than a month ago totaled 4,600 meters. In the past, orders of 30,000 to 50,000 yuan were seen everywhere in printing factories. This amount is completely insufficient. But this year is different. This volume is considered a large order. The factory’s response was very positive. The goods arrived in the afternoon of the first day and printing started in the morning of the next day, which was faster than before.
However, even though the recent printing market is in the traditional off-season of July and August, it does not seem to continue the off-season trend.
Queue phenomenon reappears, orders over 10,000 meters appear frequently
“In the past two days, I had a water printing order of more than 1,000 meters and went to a printing factory where I usually do it. Suddenly I found that now I have to queue for at least 3 or 4 people to do it. When we did it a month ago, we didn’t have to queue at all. .” said a trader.
It is understood that this water printing factory has 10 printing machines, which can basically be regarded as a big factory in the water printing industry. Such large factories have seen orders queuing up, which shows that printing orders are indeed being placed in large numbers.
This is indeed the case. The printing factory suddenly became busy mainly because orders from some large customers began to appear. The recent orders from one of their customers have been quite stable, with orders of more than 10,000 meters coming in for processing every few days. And most of the water prints on the market recently are imitation silk fabrics, some conventional chiffon, tangled fabrics, etc.
In fact, it is reasonable to use simulated silk as the base fabric for water printing. Yes, on the one hand, the current price of imitation silk is almost the lowest in five years. For example, the common 75D 24T chiffon could sell for 3.3 yuan/meter when it was good last year, but this year it has dropped to about 2 yuan/meter. This does not include the imitation silk that is being sold everywhere in the market, and the prices are even lower than the cost price. Textile companies that often do imitation silk printing also know that there is basically no room for the price of imitation silk fabrics to fall further.
At the same time, printing factories that lack orders can say that it is easier to negotiate prices than ever before. In the past, printing costs were around 2.8 yuan/meter, but when the volume is large, it is normal to drop by 3 or 4 cents. It is definitely a blessing to have imitation silk printing orders at this time, but there is still uneven hot and cold conditions in the printing market.
Different types, different factories, and different order quantities
Everyone familiar with fabric printing knows that in addition to water printing, there are also common transfer printing and digital printing on the market. However, except for water printing, other printing types currently on the market are not having an easy time. Most of the companies selling business licenses are these two types of printing factories, and even if there are orders at this time, it is very difficult to get payment.
Not only are there huge differences between different printing types, but there are also huge differences in orders from water printing factories in different locations. It is understood that some surrounding water printing factories have extremely large orders. The order volume of a customer of one of the printing factories can no longer be measured in quantity, because they hired 10 follow-up orders just by looking at the printing, which is so large that they can almost feed them. Half the factory is gone.
In fact, the most fundamental reason for the above uneven distribution is price. Although the price of digital printing decreases year by year, the price of 4-5 yuan/meter is still far higher than that of water printing; although transfer printing is cheap, the printing fee is too expensive. If there are too many colors, it will be difficult to spread out the quantity of tens of thousands of meters. cost.
In addition, the cost of water printing varies greatly between different regions. The operation method of water printing is generally to first whiten the gray fabric through the dyeing factory, and then send the finished product to the water printing factory for printing. This process will generate two costs, one for dyeing and one for printing. However, at present, water printing factories in many areas already have the ability to print fabrics on their own. Customers only need to send the gray fabric to the printing factory, and there is a printing fee in the whole process. Compared with the fees under these two different modes, the difference can reach almost 40%. Such a huge price temptation will inevitably attract a large number of printing customers to choose this method of direct gray fabric printing.
Currently, orders in the printing market have indeed picked up, but they are far from a comprehensive improvement. After all, there are huge differences between different printing varieties and factories. Orders are just constantly transferred to low-price printing factories under the guidance of price.
