With the widespread use of Oxford cloth, many functional Oxford cloths have appeared. Such as Military Oxford Cloth, Bag Oxford Cloth, Tent Oxford Cloth and other waterproof Oxford cloth. Let’s take a closer look at the problems that often arise when Waterproof Oxford Fabric is treated with a waterproof coating.
1. Feeling hard
Although the softness and hardness of the coating glue depends on the type of coating glue, the same coating glue will also vary due to the influence of processing conditions. The viscosity of the coating glue should be consistent. If the viscosity is too low, the coating glue will easily penetrate into the fabric, causing it to feel hard. If the feeding angle of the scraper is too small, the coating glue will easily penetrate into the fabric, causing it to feel hard. If too much cross-linking agent is used, the hand will feel hard. Control the viscosity of the coating glue at 13000mPa. (rotary viscometer). The scraper feeding angle should be around 87º and should not be too small. The amount of cross-linking agent should not be too much.
2. Eye of the needle
When scraping, impurities, dust, small bubbles, etc. are brought into the coating glue and silk surface to form pinholes. The guide roller of the coating machine was not cleaned properly and was stained with small rubber particles, causing pinholes to form during scraping. Rolling without sufficient drying after coating will cause sticking during unwinding, causing the coating film to rupture and form pinholes. Excessive stretching of the heat setting door width causes the film to break and form pinholes. If the water content of the solvent is too high, bubbles will be generated in the coating slurry, which will also cause pinhole defects after scraping and drying. Therefore, it is necessary to clean the cloth surface, equipment, and environment to prevent dust and impurities from covering the cloth surface, coating glue, and guide rollers. The water content of the solvent should not be higher than 0.3%. After coating, it should be fully dried and cooled before rolling. The door width should not be widened during heat setting.
3. Bar shadow
Debris, yarn ends, etc. are caught in the coating knife edge , causing thin strips of shadow. Uneven seams, loose needles, and holes cause slurry during coating, causing a large area of glue to coat the guide rollers of the coating machine, forming wide stripes. An uneven scraper blade will also cause streaks. Therefore, before getting on the machine, you must carefully check the joints, pay attention to and do a good job in cleaning the equipment and environment. Before scraping, the raw silk should be free of impurities and kept clean, and the yarn or dust at the scraper edge should be removed in time. Check the flatness and cleanliness of the knife edge before driving. The knife edge must be flat and free of debris, otherwise it should be replaced or cleaned in time.
4. Leakage
The edge suction machine malfunctioned, causing the fed silk to be skewed, resulting in no paddle at the edge of the fabric or no pulp on one side. Blade desizing results in a full-width uncoated slurry. The cloth feeder and the lathe stopper should pay attention in time, the cloth feeder should be centered, and the scraper should have a certain amount of slurry. If the edge suction machine fails, it must be repaired or replaced in time.
5. Stripes
When the remaining slurry is mixed with the new slurry, the mixture is not fully stirred evenly, causing whitening and uneven strips to be applied to the cloth surface. The preparation of coating glue should be strictly controlled according to the dosage, and try to avoid using leftover slurry. If it must be used together, it should be stirred evenly before use. If it is a two-color coating, check whether there are fine particles in the titanium dioxide white slurry. If there are any particles, they should be removed.
