Wangjiang: Breakthrough progress in cotton harvest mechanization
From November 3 to 7, in a large snow-white cotton field in Leichi Village, Leichi Town, Leichi Town, Wangjiang County, the main cotton-producing area of Anhui Province, and Jidu Village, Huayang Town, a large cotton picking machine Traveling back and forth in the “Cotton Sea”, white cotton is picked on the branches, and the cotton farmers on the edge of the field show happy smiles.
Since the labor force in the mainland has been declining year by year, the traditional cotton planting model is labor-intensive and time-consuming, the labor cost is too high, and the efficiency of cotton planting is low. Therefore, cotton planting in the mainland is in line with Xinjiang, and the realization of full mechanization is the general trend. In recent years, the Wannan Comprehensive Experiment Station of the National Cotton Industry Technology System has taken advantage of the geographical advantage of being located in Wangjiang to carry out scientific experiments such as machine-picked cotton breeding, machine-seeding, drone control (weeding, disease and pest control), and machine-picked cotton. Be successful.
In order to promote the application of fully mechanized cotton planting, this year the Wangjiang County Government issued an incentive policy to encourage large cotton growers to try out demonstration machines for picking cotton, that is, if they demonstrate more than 50 acres, a mechanical operation subsidy of 330 yuan per mu will be provided for full mechanization, of which 330 yuan per mu will be provided. Machine sowing costs 80 yuan, aerial defense costs 50 yuan, and machine harvesting costs 200 yuan. In the end, the actual machine harvestable area reached 1,000 acres.
In less than a day, Zhu Guisheng, a major cotton grower in Leichi Village, completed harvesting more than 100 acres of cotton. Lao Zhu smiled from ear to ear. About 15 acres can be harvested in one hour, and the harvesting cost is 0.5-0.7 yuan per kilogram of cotton; manual picking requires 4 to 5 people per acre, and the picking cost is 1.5-2 yuan per kilogram of cotton. Lao Zhu, who used a machine to pick cotton, said he really gained experience and felt the benefits of mechanization.
“By promoting the mechanization of the entire cotton production process, the management efficiency is 3 to 5 times that of hand-picked cotton. The labor intensity of farmers is significantly reduced, and the efficiency of cotton planting is improved. It truly realizes easy cotton planting and has created a high level of cotton productionQualitydevelopment path.” Zhou Xiaojian, associate researcher at the Wannan Comprehensive Experiment Station of the National Cotton Industry Technology System, said that machine-picked cotton also has higher requirements for cotton varieties. One is Early maturing, the two are concentrated flowering and concentrated boll formation. In addition, cotton’s fluffing period is about one month, and its harvesting period is also about half a month. The Wannan Comprehensive Experimental Station of the National Cotton Industry Technology System will continue to promote the full mechanization of cotton production in Wangjiang County, expand the planting area, and allow more growers to benefit from it, and the industry will form a scale.
This year is the first year that Wangjiang County has implemented large-area cotton harvesting by machine, which indicates that Wangjiang cotton planting has taken a solid step from the traditional planting model to full-scale mechanized planting and has made breakthrough progress. Demonstration households have expressed that they will make full use of the advantages of the incentive policy and continue to expand the area of machine-seeding, machine-tube and machine-harvesting next year, and large-area mechanized management will form a certain scale, driving the development of mechanized cotton planting in Wangjiang.
