Fluorine-free waterproofing agents lead future market development trends
With the EU environmental protection requirements imposing strict restrictions on PFOA, PFOS, and APEO, the waterproofing agent market has transformed from the original C8 fluorocarbon products through technological innovation to the emergence of low-carbon and environmentally friendly C6 waterproofing products. Fluorine-free waterproofing agents have been sought after by consumers for their unique environmental protection properties and have developed rapidly since their introduction. Fluorine-free waterproofing agent does not contain Freon, PFOA, PFOS, and APEO, and has little environmental pollution. It has significant advantages over C8 fluorocarbon waterproofing agent in terms of environmental protection.
However, fluorine-free waterproofing agents are not yet the best, their performance is unstable, and their waterproof and oil-proof functions cannot be compared with fluorocarbon waterproofing agents. This is a development problem that fluorine-free waterproofing agents must solve.
At present, the fluorine-free waterproofing agents with relatively mature technologies on the market mainly include:
1. Bionic Finish, a bionic ecological waterproofing agent launched by Germany’s Rudolf Group;
2. Huntsman’s fluorine-free waterproofing agent PHOBOL,
3. Aquapel, a fluorine-free waterproofing agent from NANO-TEX in the United States
Rudolf’s waterproofing agent Bionic Finish was launched earlier and was promoted better, has a larger market share, and is also widely known. NANO-TEX’s fluorine-free waterproofing agent Aquapel is a newly launched product. This product has relatively outstanding waterproof performance and considerable washability. From this feature, it is worth recommending to everyone.
Although fluorine-free waterproofing agents are not mature enough at present, fluorine-free waterproofing agents represent the future development direction of waterproofing agents and meet people’s needs for environmental protection. I believe that through the unremitting efforts of the majority of textile workers, fluorine-free waterproofing agents will be well developed and promoted in the near future.
