What kind of fiber is PEET fiber? How is it different from spandex?

Answer PEET fiber is polyetherester (Polyetherester) block copolymer elastomer fiber. It is a new type of chemical fiber used in knitted fabrics and other industries. As early as the 1960s, Celanese Corporation of the United States conducted research on polyetherester copolymers for fiber finishing. In the 1970s, Japanese companies such as Teijin, Toray, and Toyobo all conducted research and development. The main raw materials for the production of PEET fiber are terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate, ethylene glycol or 1,4-butylene glycol or polybutylene glycol. Compared with polyester, PEET fiber has a similar chemical structure but is highly crystalline. The block copolymer used in PEET fiber is generally composed of hard segment components and soft segment components. The hard segment has good crystallinity and high strength; while the soft segment gives the fiber high elasticity. Compared with polyurethane elastic fiber, it is not easy to turn yellow. , good chlorine resistance and other characteristics. Spandex can be divided into polyether type and polyester type. PEET fiber can be roughly divided into three categories: general strength elasticity, medium strength elasticity and high strength elasticity. The comparison of properties of spandex and PEET fibers is shown in Table 12.

PEET fiber can be mainly used in stockings, pantyhose, jackets, casual clothes, knitted underwear and industrial sewing threads.
