The importance of “recycling” in the circular economy
According to the Austrian “Messenger” report on April 4, 2019, recycling refers to the reuse of discarded items without using other raw materials in the remaking process, and as much as possible. It is possible to reduce energy consumption, that is, to replace the throwaway economy with a circular economy.
The European Parliament has approved a 55% reduction in household waste by 2025. Many plastic products can be recycled, such as PET bottles. Made into beverage containers and other products, PET is a thermoplastic polymer that can be 100% recycled. At present, various parties around the world are actively investing in the research and development of new uses for waste materials. For example, the American company Bionic extracts textile raw materials from plastic waste accumulated on the coast and makes functional sportswear.
