“With the support of World Bank project funds, the cooperative’s equipment and infrastructure have been continuously improved. Last year, the cooperative planted more than 100 acres of mulberry gardens, bred more than 6,000 silkworms, and the total output value reached 630,000 yuan. , only the single industry of silkworm breeding can increase the income of surrounding people by about 1,000 yuan every year.” Recently, Wei Qingyi, head of Yizhou Wangteng Ecological Agriculture Development Professional Cooperative, said.
Yizhou Wangteng Ecological Agriculture Development Professional Cooperative is one of the cooperatives supported in Yizhou by the World Bank-financed Guangxi Rural Poverty Alleviation Pilot Demonstration Project in Poverty-stricken Areas (referred to as the World Bank project). In recent years, Yizhou District has been approved by the Autonomous Region Poverty Alleviation Office as a World Bank project county. The project has cultivated a number of cooperatives with competitive advantages in Yizhou by innovating poverty reduction and development mechanisms and exploring industrial development concepts. Up to now, Yizhou District has established 14 professional farmer cooperatives that have been approved by the World Bank Project Office of the Autonomous Region, including 3 silkworm breeding companies, which have received a total of 9 million yuan in World Bank project funds. While the World Bank project brings financial support to the cooperative, it also provides technical guidance and training to members and the public, and continuously improves technologies in silkworm management, care and breeding, effectively reducing the incidence of small silkworm breeding and reducing the labor intensity of large silkworm breeding. It improves the quality of breeding, increases the enthusiasm of the masses to plant mulberry and raise silkworms, and drives the masses to increase their income and become rich.
