Sericulture experts from the National Rural Revitalization Science and Technology Mission went to the Three Gorges Reservoir area to implement the “one-year plan”

In Wuxi County, county leaders and heads of relevant departments held docking discussions with the silkworm industry group. Chen Gang, deputy head of the county government, introduced the development status of the sericulture industry in the county, analyzed existing problems, and elaborated on development ideas. Deputy County Magistrate Chen Gang pointed out that sericulture, as a traditional specialty industry in Wuxi County, has made important contributions to farmers getting rid of poverty and becoming rich, and is also one of the key industries for rural revitalization; Wuxi has been identified as a key county for the development of the sericulture industry by the Chongqing Municipal Commerce Commission. The climate characteristics are suitable for mulberry production and sericulture. From the aspects of natural resource endowment and technological upgrading, sericulture still has great development space and potential. The current prominent problems are labor shortage, incomplete industrial chain and lagging brand building. He proposed that the sericulture industry in Wuxi County should focus on promoting the construction of mechanizedintelligent breeding bases while focusing on conventional sericulture production, and build sericultureSilkPark has established a new model suitable for the development of Wuxi’s entire industry chain. Wuxi is a key county for national rural revitalization. At the symposium, Professor Dai Fangyin said that in accordance with the spirit of the country’s instructions for the science and technology mission, closely combined with the strategic deployment of Wuxi County, and with the strong cooperation and support of the Forestry Bureau, the county’s business department, the mission’s sericulture industry group last year Practical and effective early stage assistance has been carried out around production technology guidance services, introduction and promotion of fine varieties and advanced technologies, technical bottlenecks, local talent training, and industrial function expansion. The work has achieved significant results. In 2022, 5,000 acres of new mulberry orchards will be planted in Wuxi, and about 10,000 acres of original mulberry orchards will be upgraded. The quality and efficiency of sericulture will be improved, and the industrial functions will be newly expanded. At the same time, many established assistance planning goals need to be promoted and strengthened this year and next.
In order to better form the synergy of “tuan-county collaboration”, Professor Dai Fangyin further elaborated at this symposium that the mission’s sericulture industry group will provide Wuxi County with “quantity” at the beginning of the assistance work in 2022. The “customized” assistance target plan is to implement and realize the “12345” assistance project for the sericulture industry from 2022 to 2025: (1) Cultivate a sericulture science and technology team with enhanced strength and strong technology; (2) Overcome the development of two industries Key technologies – efficient harvesting technology of mulberry leaves and factory production technology of small silkworms; (3) Establishing three efficient development models of modern sericulture industry: planting and breeding separation model, family farm model and mulberry-grain intercropping model; (4) Create four types of demonstration bases: sericulture, culture and tourism integration demonstration base, high-efficiency and cost-saving segmented sericulture demonstration base, small silkworm factory-based standardized co-breeding demonstration base, and sericulture pests and diseases green prevention and control demonstration base; (5) High-yield and high-quality mulberry gardens are developed to 50,000 acres. Dai Fangyin emphasized that sericulture is a well-known advantageous industry for rural revitalization. It should be based on the actual situation of Wuxi, adapt to local conditions, highlight industrial characteristics, integrate development resources, strengthen the construction of standardized and high-efficiency industrial bases, and accelerate the construction of a “big industry chain” with diversified utilization and development. “Sericulture” development system, solidly promote highquality development, and strongly contribute to the overall revitalization of rural areas.
