On March 3, with a total investment of 82.93 billion yuan, the construction of the second phase of Zhejiang Petrochemical’s 40 million tons/year refining and chemical integration project located on Yushan Island began.
According to Zhoushan Evening News, the project has a total land area of 500,000 square meters, and the new main project mainly includes 20 million tons/year oil refining, 4 million tons/year of paraxylene, 1.4 million tons/year of ethylene and downstream devices. Supporting projects include storage and transportation projects, public auxiliary projects and environmental protection projects. The project construction period is from 2020 to 2022, with a planned investment of 20 billion yuan in 2020.
After the project is completed, it will have an annual production capacity of 20 million tons of oil refining, 4 million tons of paraxylene, and 1.4 million tons of ethylene, achieving an annual output value of 102.9 billion yuan. It will build an integrated industrial chain of “crude oil – aromatics (PX), olefins, polypropylene, and polyethylene” to achieve high-quality and efficient large-scale production, reduce product costs, and promote the leap-forward development of the entire industry.
According to data, the refining and chemical integration project of Zhejiang Petrochemical Co., Ltd. was jointly built by Rongsheng Petrochemical, Juhua Group, Tongkun Co., Ltd. and Zhoushan Ocean Investment in Zhoushan, with a total project investment of 173 billion yuan. The project is planned to be constructed in two phases, each with a capacity of 20 million tons/year of oil refining, 4 million tons/year of paraxylene, 1.4 million tons/year of ethylene and downstream chemical plants.
It is understood that on August 28, 2018, Zhejiang Petrochemical’s 40 million tons/year refining and chemical project completed the preliminary basic engineering and entered the main engineering installation and construction stage. In November of the same year, the project entered the peak period of equipment installation. In May 2019, the first phase of the project completed the preliminary work such as engineering construction, equipment installation and commissioning, and the relevant devices were ready for operation. The first batch of devices (atmospheric and vacuum pressure and related public engineering devices, etc.) were put into operation. On December 31, 2019, the refining, aromatics, ethylene and downstream chemical products units of the first phase of the project were fully put into trial operation, opening up the entire process, achieving stable operation and producing qualified products. </p
