Starting from the summer of 2022, Shiquan County will implement the sericulture insurance pilot work in accordance with the principles of “sericulture farmers’ voluntariness, market operation, departmental cooperation, and coordinated advancement”. The terms of the “Sericulture Insurance” stipulate that the insured objects are silkworm farmers within the county. , the sericulture varieties to be insured must be varieties promoted and distributed by the sericulture business authorities at or above the county level, and insurance must be purchased before receiving the seeds. The insurance method is divided into two types: based on the breeding cycle or on a yearly basis. If insured on an annual basis, the insurance liability period is one year. The insurance amount for each piece of sericulture insurance is determined to be 800 yuan per piece, the rate is 4%, and farmers pay a premium of 32 yuan for each piece of sericulture. During the sericulture period, if the silkworms suffer from stiffness, purulence, bacterial disease, particulate disease, arthropod disease, poisoning, high and low temperatures, inability to get on the cocoon, fire, wind disaster, lightning strike, heavy rain, landslide, building collapse, etc. When the situation occurs, the silkworm farmers report the insurance in time. After the insurance company conducts on-site verification, the insurance company will pay a compensation ratio of 20% to 100% according to the age of the silkworms. According to the insurance contract, the insurance company will pay a maximum compensation of 800 yuan per silkworm seed.
It is reported that Shiquan County will continue to promote sericulture insurance (pilot) in all towns in the county in 2023. With the continuous promotion and popularization of “sericulture insurance” work, it is expected to be included in the scope of national agricultural insurance financial subsidies in 2025.
